Meet Suu

Suu's love of performing began when she was five years old and sang for her church at Christmas. From this inauspicious beginning, she grew into a passionate and versatile performer, participating in school plays, musicals, local music festivals, youth choirs, and completing RCM examinations in both voice and piano.

In 1997, Suu graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Music in Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Windsor's School of Music. She has been a featured soloist with the Windsor Symphony Community Orchestra and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with Opera Mississauga, Opera York, and Opera Atelier.

Suu began teaching in 1992 and quickly discovered a deep passion for music education. She finds great joy and satisfaction in challenging her students and helping them to achieve their goals. Suu's teaching focuses on healthy technique, effective practise habits, and music that excites and inspires. Suu understands that learning an instrument is about more than music—it helps develop the whole person. Her students build independence, time management skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence, all within a studio environment that balances humour, respect, and creativity.

A lover of theatre, Suu has worked as a Vocal Coach and Musical Director with local companies such as Crazy Pant Theatre Company and South Simcoe Theatre. She continues to perform whenever she can, whether it is on stage or at community fundraisers, always looking for meaningful ways to share her love of music and performance.

Since 2014, Suu has played an active role in the South Simcoe Arts Council Music Festival, recognizing its value in the growth of young musicians. She served as Executive Director of SSAC from 2018 to 2025 and continues to volunteer as Music Festival Coordinator to ensure students have access to high-quality performance and learning experiences.

In addition to music, Suu is also a self-taught jewellery artist. What began in 2010 as a creative outlet has grown into New Creations, a small business offering handcrafted jewellery made from sterling silver wire and semi-precious gemstones. A portion of proceeds supports Shalom Home, an organization in Guinea, West Africa, that serves children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Suu's greatest role is not on stage - it is that of wife and mom. She is encouraged and supported by her husband Neil. She is continually inspired by her children Brie, Rori, and Jasper, who share her love of theatre. The family also includes a lively crew of furry companions: rabbits Holly, Monty, Denver, Bunny, and Clyde (though none have made their stage debut - yet).
