Taylor Music Studio Policies 2025

  • Students are expected to arrive on time to their lessons, with all necessary materials and books.

  • When you arrive for lessons, please wait downstairs in the loft. If you arrive early for your lesson and the door is locked, please ring the doorbell - Suu will be with you shortly.

  • Parents and siblings are welcome to stay downstairs during their child’s lesson, as long as it does not distract or disturb the student.  Parents of young students are welcome to sit in on the lesson, as your support and participation is key to their early success.

  • Please note we have a studio bunny! His name is Denver and roams the ground floor of the loft. He loves to be petted gently on the top of his head. If he wants to be left alone, he will stay in his cage or under the table. If you or your child are allergic to rabbits, or uncomfortable around animals, please let me know.

  • Shoes and coats can be left on the landing of the stairs during lesson, where Denver can’t nibble them.

  • Students will be assigned practise goals and theory homework each week. It is expected that they practise at least five days each week. Age appropriate practise times, goals and strategies will be discussed during lessons.

  • Parents, it is totally normal for students to go through phases when they need reminding and encouragement to practise. If it seems that they are struggling or losing the joy of music, please talk to me about it. We can work together to find a strategy to help them persevere and rediscover their love of music.

Cancelled Lessons

  • Lessons must be cancelled by contacting Suu directly, preferably by text. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required to reschedule a lesson. Lessons that are missed without sufficient notice forfeit the lesson fee and no make up lesson will be offered.

  • Make up lessons are not guaranteed

  • No refunds are given for missed lessons.

  • Make-up lesson times will either be offered at the end of the regular teaching year (mid to late June), or during the year when a spot becomes available. It is your responsibility to book a make-up lesson.

  • Teacher cancellations and weather-related cancellations will be offered as either online lessons or make up lessons; they will be prioritized when scheduling make up lessons.

  • If a student stops lessons mid-month, the rest of the month’s prepaid tuition is forfeit and will be considered a cancellation fee. There are no refunds.

  • No make-up lessons are carried forward from previous academic years; make-up lessons will expire on August 15 of a given year.

  • If a student is more than 15 minutes late, the teacher is not obligated to wait. Lesson times cannot be extended for students who arrive late.

  • Students under the age of 10 must be picked up at the end of a lesson by a parent or older sibling. They will not be allowed to leave the studio unaccompanied.

Tuition and Fees

Fees are due on the first of each month, in advance. Payment may be made by e-transfer (preferred), cheque, or with exact cash (change is not available).

Lesson fees as of September 1st, 2025 are:

$47 for 60 min lesson

$35.25 for 45 min lesson

$23.50 fro 30 min lesson

A $20 administrative fee will be added to the total cost of lessons.

Lesson fees for the year will be divided equally each month and due on the first of each month, in advance.

For example, if your student is taking one hour lessons on Tuesdays, there will be 38 lessons in the year.

[(38 lessons x $47) + $20] ÷ 10 months = $180.60 monthly lesson fee
